While obviously not strictly a Single Global Currency Conference, the 1944 Bretton Woods Monetary Conference did consider the proposal of John Maynard Keynes for a single global currency, to be called the "bancor". The proposal was not adopted. This famous conference addressed the major issue which will be solved by the single global currency: foreign exchange rates for multiple currencies.
2004
The 2004 Conference was held on Friday, July 9 at the Mt. Washington Hotel. See Agenda and Titles and Summaries of Presentations and Press Release.
Below are the presentations which are available:
John Edmunds and John Marthinsen, "Financial Wealth Creation via Currency Unification"
Fariborz Moshirian, "Globalisation and the Role of a Single Global Currency"
H.Christopher Budd, "A Single Global Currency - a political or an economic money?"
Masudul Choudhury, "Harmonizing Money and Real Economy by a Universal Standard" (not presented personally)
The presenters and attendees were all very aware of the significance of holding the conference in the same rooms as were negotiated the 1944 Bretton Woods agreements, 60 years previous.
We were well aware that this was the first such Single Global currency conference and there would never again be another such "First Conference." It was intimidating, too, given our small numbers.
Reporter Laura Colquhoun from the Manchester Union Leader wrote "With Euro as a Model, Group pushes Single Global Currency".
Attendee and Principal at www.goldmoney.com,
James Turk, engaged several speakers in discussion, with
his concerns about the abuse of money by previous governments.

& Money Report", entitled, "A
Single Global Currency"
